![]() ![]() The monster is strong and puts up one hell of a fight. The monster scratches and attempts to break the bars that keep it locked away from its freedom. Monster by Skillet inspired me to right a poem that goes along with some of my interpretations.ĭeep within me there’s a monster begging to be let out of its cage. I have multiple interpretations but I don't feel comfortable enough to share them. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.I honestly love this song so much that its my theme song. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. “Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. X3Īnd i basically think it's about how we fight within ourselves and how we all sort of have a "monster" inside of us and how don't want it win but it's always sort of there! [=Īnd i basically think it's about how we fight within ourselves and how we all sort of have a "monster" inside of us and how don't want it win but it's always sort of there! [= Reason: I must confess that I feel like a monster. Why won't somebody come and save me from this I feel the rage and I just can't hold it. You say that Comatose and Awake have nothing to do with God, fine, but no one has to shut up if they think it does. And, um, your opinion does not entitle you to tell anyone not to give theirs. I'm not too fond of Atheists who are really into it and I have to deal with it every day. Christians who are "really into it" are what God commands Christians to be, and if you don't like it then tough. That's like saying that non-Christians ruin non-Christian bands for me. Oh and P.S., saying that Christians are ruining Skillet for you is completely ignorant, intolerant, and childish. If you want to fit God into everything then wonderful, and if you want to keep him out of everything, more power to you. Also, lyrics are written to be taken however the reader wants to interpret them. If you're interested in non-God Skillet songs, try "Should've When You Could've" or something like that. Skillet is a Christian band, therefore, it is expected that a majority of their songs are about God, thus making them a Christian band. Well, Christians can't expect non-believers to see God in every song, just how non-believers can't expect Christians to keep God out of everything as they wish they would. I've gotta lose control, here's something radical Maybe it's inside of me, stop this monster ![]() No one can hear me scream, maybe it's just a dream There's no escape for me, it wants my soul, it wants my heart It's hiding in the dark, it's teeth are razor sharp ![]() 'Cause if I let him out he'll tear me up, break me down My secret side I keep hid under lock and key I hate what I've become, the nightmare's just begun I must confess that I feel like a monster I feel it deep within, it's just beneath the skin Why won't somebody come and save me from this, make it end? Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head It's scratching on the walls, in the closet, in the halls The secret side of me, I never let you see ![]()
